Box type substation (referred to as box type substation) is a compact complete set of distribution equipment that combines high-voltage switchgear distribution transformers, low-voltage switchgear, energy metering equipment, and reactive power compensation devices in one or several boxes according to a certain wiring scheme.
It has the advantages of moisture resistance, rust prevention, dust prevention, rodent prevention, fire prevention, theft prevention, and thermal insulation, and is particularly suitable for urban network construction and renovation. It is a new type of substation that has emerged after civil engineering substations. Box type substations are suitable for mines, factories, oil and gas fields, and wind power stations. They replace the original civil power distribution rooms and substations and become a new type of complete set of transformer and distribution equipment.
Due to their different structures and uses, box type substations are further divided into European style box substations, American style box substations, Chinese style box substations, and landscape type buried box substations. They are commonly used in municipal road light box substations, factory distribution box substations, temporary power box substations and charging stations on construction sites, and new energy box substations in photovoltaic wind power plants.
